StudiCouch is a favour between people who share one scholarship, not a service with a help desk. Here is what everyone signs up to.

    What this is

    A private, non-commercial directory where members, doctoral fellows and alumni of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes can find each other and arrange to host one another or meet up. It is run by members, not by the foundation, and has no official connection to it.

    Who may join

    Current and former scholarship holders of the Studienstiftung and foundation staff. We don't check documents; trust comes from members vouching for each other. If you're not part of the Studienstiftung, please don't create a page.

    Your login

    You log in with a one-time code sent to your e-mail address. Codes are personal — don't forward them, and tell us if you think someone else is using your address.

    Your page

    Keep it truthful. Use a name people from the Stiftung know you by, and a photo you have the right to use. Your name, photo, status, city and university are public; keep that in mind when choosing them. No commercial offers, no advertising, no collecting other members' data, no automated scraping. You're responsible for what you publish.

    Hosting and meeting

    Any arrangement to stay with or meet another member is strictly between the two of you. StudiCouch is not a party to it, makes no promises about anyone, and is not liable for what happens before, during or after a stay. The verified mark and vouches are other members' personal statements, not a guarantee. Use your judgement, as you would anywhere else.

    Nothing here is paid. Asking for money for a couch is not what this is for.

    Vouching

    Vouch only for people you have actually met and know to be part of the Studienstiftung. Your name appears on their page, and you're responsible for your vouch. Admins may remove vouches or pages that look wrong, and may ask you about yours. Vouching for someone who isn't part of the Studienstiftung can get your account banned; a banned member's vouches no longer count, so people verified only through them lose their mark.

    Behaviour

    Be decent. No harassment, no discrimination, no misuse of contact details, no messages that aren't about hosting or meeting up. Breaking this gets your page removed without further discussion.

    Availability and changes

    StudiCouch is provided as it is, by volunteers, free of charge. It may change, pause or stop at any time, and there is no promise of uptime or of keeping your data forever. You can export what we hold about you on request.

  9. 9

    Liability

    To the extent the law allows, the people running StudiCouch are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. Liability for anything that happens between members is excluded.

    Law

    German law applies. If a clause here is invalid, the rest still stands.
